Unboxing & Review: Xiaomi Mi Powerbank

Xiaomi Mi Powerbank

Xiaomi, referred to as “China’s Apple” by some people, and apparently some blogs, made headlines a just a few months ago this year. AFAIK, it started from the time they released the Mi 3 smartphone. Much of the buzz about this new brand is mostly about that phone. In a nutshell, the Mi 3, as I’d like to describe it, is an affordable Android smartphone with features and specs as good as a premium-branded smartphone out in the market right now. Affordable because it only costs less than PHP 11,000. (As far as my backstory about the Mi 3 goes, this is only the extent of my knowledge about that phone.. moving on!)

That’s nice and all but I wasn’t looking for a new smartphone at the moment because I am very much contented w/ my iPhone 5S. However, I am looking for a more handy and easy to carry around powerbank. Something I could bring with me when I’m outside for a shorter time. I use my phone a lot when I’m out and about, especially 3G (mobile data).. thus the need for extra battery power. This is where the Mi powerbank comes in.

Romoss Sailing 5 Powerbank Review

April 16, 2014 by Anna — 12 Comments

After months and months of looking around online and researching which powerbank to get, I finally found the perfect one for my needs! From the generic China brands, to ones w/ known brand names, to high-end brands, I chose the Romoss Sailing series powerbank. Ain’t she a beauty? Haha

First of all, I am very picky when it comes to things like these. I did not want to keep buying and trying different types of it until I happen to luckily purchase the one that fits my needs.. it would be a waste to have all sorts of smaller-capacity powerbanks, don’t you think? So I picked the one that at least has more capacity than the first powerbank I had (which I sold after). Couldn’t be more happier with my purchase. 🙂 More photos under the cut!

What's On My Phone: Android Edition

September 27, 2013 by Anna — 11 Comments

Here’s the thing with posts like this: 90% of the #WhatsOnMyPhone posts all over the blogosphere are for iPhones. I hardly see posts for the Android phone users out there. You can’t say that the reason for this is because “no one” uses Android phones that much compared to iPhones.. that’s not true at all. 😛

I’m not the first to create such a list but I hope this will be helpful to people who are looking for apps to download to their Android phones. Us Android phone users gotta stick together, right? HAHA. Some of these you have probably heard of from their iOS equivalent, some may sound completely unfamiliar. Either way, my goal here is to introduce these apps to you.

Without further ado, here’s my phone’s homescreen:

One might think that since this phone is an Android, I would spend a lot of time making my phone flashy and put all sorts of widgets and things to make it look ‘busy’ and ‘customized’. Because, why not, right? “FINALLY, I’M FREE FROM THE RESTRICTED ANTI-CUSTOMIZATION ENVIRONMENT OF IOS!!” No. The truth is, I would rather not because I feel like it will slow the phone in the long run. The phone’s storage memory is non-expandable too, so I am trying to leave enough space for photo storage for the camera.

WARNING: This is an incredibly long and detailed post. 🙂
