Going to Pupil’s album launch-slash-listening party for their new album (same title of this post) was the first band-related event I attended this year. Though I was only there for a short time, I had a good time. I saw familiar faces and some people still recognized me after not showing up in years. 😆

Inside Robot Bar and the Tarp
The bar where the event was held was a new one. It was really pretty. The outside looked Clark Kent’s Fortress in Smallville (lol yeah srsly!), the inside was even better! It’s one of those places where you’d LOVE to take a model and pose her anywhere inside because all four corners of the bar-restaurant is just too pretty (lack of a better word here, heh).. I wanted to have a photo taken there but meh, I didn’t bring a DSLR that night. The lights are pretty, the interior design is stellar, the ambient and vibe is rather spacy, post-modern and shisdjfsdjfs just go there and see it IRL!

Drummer Wendell Garcia signing my (or was it my friend’s?) album
Maybe if the event was a “gig” rather than a party, I would’ve stayed longer.. haha. I had the album signed and talked to the members for a bit, went outside the bar and hanged out with my friend and left the area some time later, walked back to Ayala Center and separated ways there. I should also point out that we got lost on our way to the bar, haha! I enjoyed the walking back to Ayala the most because.. I just like walking at night, ok? =)) Plus, I think I needed that night walk so clear my mind off school or boredom at home.. smh.
The new album does not disappoint, btw! I’m not saying this because I’m a fan and I enjoy their music, k. :))
From what I observed after a few spins of the album and finally putting it on loop so I can absorb the tunes.. The songs are better compared to Wildlife but is still within radio-friendly (keyword: catchy + LSS-able) level. Guess you could say that it’s nearly up to the level of Beautiful Machines but w/ the radio-friendly factor.
Or maybe I’m just biased because I really like BM better.. I find myself listening to it more than Wildlife, actually. 😛 Alright! BM would be a dark album, LOTIP would be “just right”, Wildlife would go to “light”.

Limiters of the Infinity Pool album
Top picks from LOTIP: Distortion, Obese (I think it’s a funny, obnoxious song haha), Pusakal, Let Her Rip, 20/20, The Low End. That’s already half of the songs from the album! Give me time to catch up on the rest of the 6 songs ok?
So this isn’t a review of the album but just a post documenting the said event. I’d advise you to get this album, listen to it and see for yourself if you like it or you think the previous albums are better. I’m pretty satisfied with this one, but that’s my opinion.
I hope this is not the last time I’ll get to see this band live this year. It’s only January.. I have countless opportunities in the next 11 months, right? Well, it’s good timing that they released it on the first month of the year.. seems like this is one of the positive news I’ve heard around in a span of 2 weeks.
In case you haven’t noticed a couple of local bands have disbanded now. I hope this ain’t something that would turn to a trend.
Thanks for the link! I’m looking at her other pictures and just wowed.
Ha, I doubt I’ll ever be able to go to any band events like that. I’m not VIP enough 😛 The most VIP I get is going to advanced screenings of movies. Hahaha. But, thanks for the suggestion, nevertheless.
@anne: Google it (re: Clark’s fortress)! 🙂 Yeah the event was pretty awesome. You should try going out to events like that sometime even just a quick stop by.
I’m sorry but aside from the photo ops with some of the members of the band + this one I posted, I don’t have other good photos of the bar’s interior. Try to check out rosarioko.com’s coverage of the event, she has excellent photos that feature the interiors. 🙂
Oooh, very cool! I’ve never been to an event like that before. Must have been WOW! I don’t know what Clark Kent’s Fortress looks like, but it sounds amazing! Do you have any more pictures of the interior? Hahaha.
