On joining orgs at school

October 22, 2010 by Anna — 2 Comments

So I was minding my own business online when one of my friends suddenly IMs me and asks if I wanted to join an organization at school next term..

I replied with “no thanks, I’m really lazy when it comes to that stuff.” She also adds that it’s something that we can add to our resume in the future.. Hm? Still not convincing enough for me cuz I think most employers look for work experience not orgs you joined (yeah I’m probably wrong at this). Plus I don’t have any more space for orgs in my resume.

In the end, I told her that our other friends joined an org and encouraged her to join in the same org so that when she’s a member, she already knows some people. 🙂

On the contrary, I did have my share of “org moments”. I joined two orgs in freshman year, but I wasn’t an active member. *shrugs off* Lol, I am such a bad org member.

Sry, I’m the go-back-home-right-after-school kind of gal. Well unless somebody decides to eat out somewhere after class, I’m totally in! Food = YES.

Oh yeah, just because I prefer to be at home “at all times”, don’t let that give you the impression that I have nothing better to do. It doesn’t make me a loser as well, fyi. =)) I save up my daily allowance to get better stuff in the future (oh rly?).. and um, I like the internet too much so I’m here.

A really valid reason would be: I AM WORKING ON MY THESIS AND I NEED ALL THE TIME I CAN GET.

See you in a few days, people!

I think you should be part of orgs, but only if you’re totally into it. If it’s something na you would rather do something else, then don’t. When I was in college back home I was part of the cheerdance and I loved it. I was also in one of the outreach programs and it was so fulfilling spending a bit of my Saturday morning (kahit na I would have rather spent time in bed haha) helping kids in need and stuff. Basta if hindi mo talaga gusto don’t force yourself kasi in the end it will just spite you and your interest toward it will go away. But yeah, it’s a good college experience. In my uni here there’s no orgs whatsoever and I admit I kinda missed it, especially the whole dancing thing.

Opposite tayo. I’m really active sa org ko. Haha! Well, it’s because dance team ng Miriam. So yeah, kelangan talaga active kahit ayaw mo. =)) Anyway, good luck on your thesis. 😀
